AWAKE Peer Mentorship Program
Connecting people with experienced CPAP users who understand the journey.
Why this program exists
Starting PAP therapy can be a major adjustment. New users often have questions about mask fit, nighttime routines, equipment care, and staying motivated when progress is slow.
The AWAKE Peer Mentor Program pairs participants with experienced PAP users who listen, share practical lessons, and help people feel supported every step of the way.
At WSCN, we work to empower people to take ownership of their health and ensure no one feels alone on their CPAP journey. This is why the AWAKE Peer Mentor Program exists.

How the program works
Joining the AWAKE Program as a mentee connects you to an experienced PAP user who has been on the journey you are currently on. They understand and have volunteered their time to offer their help and support. After you apply, our WSCN team members identify a suitable match for you and organize the connection.
Your mentor can listen, share personal strategies, and talk through common practical challenges such as adapting to a bedtime routine, wearing a mask, caring for equipment, traveling with PAP, and preparing questions for your healthcare provider. Conversations take place virtually and are shaped by the needs you identify together.

Become a Peer Mentor
Becoming a mentor in the AWAKE Peer Mentor Program can be a rewarding experience, and a great way to give back to the community. After completing the application and a successful screening interview, new mentors complete onboarding and training before supporting participants.
The training prepares volunteers to listen actively, share experience without prescribing a solution, recognize the limits of the role, protect privacy, and to identify when to redirect medical or urgent questions. Mentors provide encouragement and practical peer support to help their mentee feel more confident and successful in their therapy. WSCN supports mentors throughout their role.
